The rule book is quite clear on this.

ALL 2008 and up cars are allowed a 9" and an NHRA approved suspension.

The corporate transmission rule applies because the Supra is built in a joint venture with BMW. BMW has a history of running GM transmissions in their cars.

Not one rule was changed to allow this car into the guide.

That is interesting information, I had no idea NHRA changed the rules so much. Was this driven/forced by the acceptance of the V10 Drag Pack Challengers?

This is interesting, I'd like it better with a stick, but I'm sure the automatic will make it more driveable for most. I'd fit in it. Key is a close fit cage, done with care. Factory ECU or aftermarket, I use VF tuner for my street/strip toyota trucks. What Chassis shop is doing the build?

This has gone to 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon or should I say 7 degrees of GM. NHRA new slogan should be SHOW ME THE MONEY. Just fallow the money. The history of nhra was built on providing a safe place to race and done safely but now they rarely even check the minimum of any safety device, let alone following there own rulebook that is not safety related items. What is the point of the rule book anymore, run what you brung.

Or did Toyota buy GM while nobody was looking? I really doubt that this so called "Production" Toyota car is available at the Toyota dealership with a GM Turbo 400 transmission connecting the engine to the , I assume, Toyota rear axle assembly.
How did Ford get away with running Turbo400 transmissions in the Cobra Jet cars?

Same 7 degrees of gm. Jaguars used th400 in the 70s early 80s at one point ford own Jaguar. But they also own Cummins at one time also, turbos for all Fords with no hp rating change

GUMP is correct.
The 5L50 and 5L40-E BMW transmissions were manufactured by GM.
