Mike, yes Brian is the son and Ryan is the grandson of Jerry McClanahan.

ya know, i realize why these guys are doing this ( to meet the 5"scoop rule). With that said, neither one of these guys are hurting for money, so why not do the body work and actually extend the scoop and just have 2 hoods if you want to be able to change classes. that looks like some crap I would expect from "the boyz in the hood" on grudge night at the local track.

Don't you think they might want to test it before they go to the expense of building a new hood? That don't come cheap, ya know.

I'm not defending the scoops by any means because I think they look ridiculous and they're are much better ways to go about having a legal hood. BUT, with that said depending on how they are attaching those things they are completely legal.

The people complaining about this rule are most likely the same people that think if you weld that 1/2" bolts holding in you 300# or more weight box in makes it permanent and thus doesn't have to be less than the 100# limit..

Get over it guys there is absolutely no advantage to them. If they wanted to spend another 5k on a 2nd hood and form it into the scoop would you still be crying that its helps the car run faster...

I don't like hood scoops. I can barely see over my steering wheel as it is so it would be no benefit to me.

BUT if the rules in modified stock state that the hood scoop must be part of the hood, then by the rules of English grammar, the scoop would have to be the same material as the hood, which clearly it is not. OR what about "only one opening permitted"? Technically it has 2 openings, one opening in the Oreck hose and then one opening in the hood scoop for said hose to go in.

Come on - we're talking about an organization that doesn't police how tight super comp & gas competitors wear their shoulder harnesses and then post photos of them hanging out of their cages at the finishline! Do you really expect them to police hood scoops to your satisfaction and interputation of a rulebook that must be written in pencil? It's pretty obvious the they're real good at looking the other way when it suits them

yea, I'm sure they did. However I'm sure there are much better places to test something unproven than at the US nationals
