Art and or M68,
What was the big complaint back then..
Guys putting the T/A fiberglass hoods on the 70' Hemi
Challengers.

Oops, just found out that in late 70', T/A fiberglass hoods were available on 70' Challengers, when the factory ran out of 'shaker' hoods.
And in 71', the T/A fiberglass hood was an option for the
Challenger.

Paul

There weren't near as many whining crybabies back then. A lot of people thought we were a full factory backed car. And that we could run much faster than what we did.
And that little bit of misinformation won us some races. The most memorable was Indy 1980.
Not in the final. That was against Al Provost and there was no fooling him.

ART,
We called them the 'PICAYUNES".
Now I remember, the big complaint, the guys with the 'shaker' hoods on the 70' Challenger's and Cuda's were molding the scoop to the hood with 'bondo'. To ensure a better seal, and gain a little more height on the scoop. When the SS/D and SS/DA cars started cleaning up, them
'PICAYUNES' protested..

There was some hanky panky going on with hoods back then. At Indy one year we pulled up next to a certain Challenger superstocker in the inside oval pits. The man just grumbled never said a word, threw all his stuff in or on the truck (the key word here is THREW). And took off. For another pit spot. You would have thought we had the bubonic plague or something. He left us so fast we wound up with a complex. LOL We showered the day before honest. And there were no Axe murderers in our crew. Maybe an old hitman but no Axe murderers.
