I learned in Comp you can't refuse a record. Shouldn't it be the same in S/SS?

To set a record in SS I always had to have a circled R on the windshield.
I haven't checked the rule book lately, but if it like in the past that "R" was a requirement. The first run under the record always counted as the record and the second run was the back up. I think the last record I set was in 2008 and things might have changed.

I have set the national record a couple times pre horse power penalty, would I do it again heck no! Way to much work for a piece of paper that means nothing to anyone but yourself. But that's just my opinion.

It appears that if someone wants to set the record for their class, today is the day. Ideal conditions and no AHFS in effect at Maple Grove. Sadly, many racers will run fast enough to get the record, but pass on taking the record because they either don't want to go through a tear down or there simply isn't the same prestige/incentives in being the record holder that once existed.

I always wanted to be a National Record Holder growing reading National Dragster and my Dad ran Modified and got close a few times,so I wanted to ?
I set 5 IHRA records, once you went through teardown and put back together there ..they would seal your engine and it was good for the rest of the year..so you set multiple records with one teardown? I just set my first NHRA record and will set more if and when I have the opportunity?. I still have the mindset from days past?If you can set a record..do it?doesn?t pay anything?only get a certificate?may or may not be seen in National Dragster.. Just something..I like to do?maybe I was born 20 or 30 years too late?. I say when there is class ..NO AHFS |

The first national event I ever went to was Indy in 1966. It was exciting to see cars I'd only seen from the magazines.
But seeing "national record holder" painted on was another level. I was looking at the king of the hill, the best of the best, and someone who knew what they were doing. And nobody was on the brakes at the finish line, ever - with more than a few running out the speed trap. I still have that feeling that has stayed with me all these years. Shame I seldom see that on cars (stickered, not painted) and things have been manipulated so it doesn't matter much any more. |

Back in the day roaming the pits when you would pass a car with national record holder followed by multiple years painted on you knew you was looking at something special.

Alright everybody it's that time of year for the Draginsights.com National Records to be showcased in National Dragster. If you or someone you know has set a record this year, please post the Name, Class, Car (Make/Model/CI/ADV HP) and ET and MPH, and what track it was set at. I need to have it done by end of this week. Be sure to thank Alicia Anderson and sign up for your free DragInsights membership to check out your stats. Also thank you to the handful of crowd funders who also made this possible. Happy Thanksgiving. New records I am doublechecking:
