Mother Nature has been helping the “I don’t want to go a second under” racers. She has supplied a head wind to help slow everyone down.

I have a request, for someone in the pits at Indy. Irvin Johns is listed on DRC as driving an '05 Cobalt. He's #18 on the SS Q-1 list.
https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop That is NOT the car listed on the pre-entry list. In 2019, Todd Frantz drove an Irvin Johns '05 Cobalt to the GT/FA class win. At that time, it was powered by a 428 Pontiac engine. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop So, I'd like to ask a favor of someone with access to the pits. Please go to the Johns/Frantz SS pit, take a look at the engine in the '05 Cobalt, perm #391, & post what brand engine it is. Will really appreciate it if someone who has access & the time will do this for me & all Pontiac fans who may be interested. IF it does have Pontiac power, please post a pic of the engine, if you have a way to do this. Thanks in advance ! ![]() Last edited by oldskool; 09-01-2021 at 02:09 PM. |

"I believe when he came up for Q1 Allen said it was 428 Poniac powered."
Thanks for the info ! ![]() Would love to see a pic of it in the little Cobalt, if somebody there has the time & ability to do it. I have these older pics of the car I think I'm talkin about. Can't be certain this is the same car, or that if it is, it still looks exactly like this. |

Question on the mineshaft rule. If it meats the mineshaft criteria in qualifying is it wide open for the rest of the meet?
