All run? No tech? No qualifying? So this is bracket racing disguised as "Showroom Stock"?

Guess you were not at Englishtown LODRS this past weekend as there was no time for anything but serious racing .As for funding - here's the deal for you - you can be like the snowmobile guys and gals as they fund their whole deal themselves - step up and bring your checkbook ! ! !

Jack I respect you vast experience from your early days driving your Chevrolet delivery wagon to your new COPO.I don't think that any of us wiser(not older) gentlemen could have step up to a top of the line race car when we started but many did drive right off the street with their 67,8,9 Camaro into a class that NHRA determined was right for us. All I'm suggesting is a new way to bring new blood and old blood back at a divisional event. Not to take away from the guys and gals who pay their own way to race sleds down the quarter mile but I think that it would better to see new cars going down the quarter mile than something needing snow in the middle of the summer.Sorry that I missed the race since I broke my leg working. my other question for all of you out there is why are there hardly any spectator for such a great show as a divisional event? Is it because of not enough advertising or there's too much competition for the same dollar? thanks

These interesting arguments for Factory Stock or Showroom Stock are the same ones for Pure Stock.
Most cars can run under the index with a few sorted modifications. Gears, Sticky Tires and Tune. Add a street Converter and will run 2-4 tenths under. All the normal bolt on equipment. I think this is a worthy conversation as described Showroom Stock fit into current Pure Stock IHRA rules. For almost a decade that is how I ran my Pure Stocker. Mostly Bracket Racing then Stock. Would change tires at the track and race. Over the years my car has been upgraded. One day may make the huge change to Stock. The point about Showroom Stock and Pure Stock is to attract new racers. Get excited newcomers hooked into the Sport we love. Fwiw we have a conduit for Showroom Stock already available! Dna |

Where were all the "No New Classes" folks when NHRA added 23 new classes to Super Stock last year bringing the total to 109 classes. I think it is a medical issue discovered by the CDC a couple years ago called "OK to Add Classes if I like the Cars in the Class", which is an offshoot of another disease the CDC found in 2008 called "Old Cars are the Only cars". Research is continuing.

Just call it bracket 1,2,3.
However most young guys/girls aren't interested in bracket racing. New spectators to the sport really don't understand or like bracket racing. Everyone generally prefers heads up, beating the other guy in the lane. That's what you see on test and tunes and you see more spectators in the stands on those nights also. Problem is heads up is expensive and the more rules that are added the more expensive it gets. Even the crate motor cars are becoming humongously expensive. Why because speed cost money how fast do you want to go? Not uncommon to be spending thousands of dollars on bolts to lessen the polar moment of inertia. Want more people and new blood? Put on what the kids are into. Current fad is small tire and grudge racing. Have to always be changing with the times not trying to rekindle old flames. Those things worked at the time not because they were designed that way but due to a perfect storm. Perhaps there will be a lot of draw in your area for this and it will work. In my area it's battling of the area codes at a local track 2-3x a year on who's the quickest with an instant green start.

Claude great idea...unfortunately you get the following:
Great idea unfortunately... Dream on... Claude "your very right" but... Sorry... You can be like "snowmobile guys and gals" There were exceptions to these responses that very well stated a positive viewpoint thank you. I see plenty of showroom cars from all the major manufactures wherever I travel. |
