The insurance is an additional $85 to $100 a year on top of the $10 registration.

When I bought my sticker all that was required was the $10 and my Competition Number and my state drivers license number on the form.
I did not show insurance coverage of was even asked if I had it.
I asked if that covered me on insurance for the pit bike and was told NO....It was only a registration.
I am not sure what the $10 did for me??? Other than lighten my wallet...
My 10 bucks worth

I guess what I mean is if they take your money make sure everyone has insurance.
Last fall at the Finals in Pomona NHRA personnel were stopping people at random on scooters and golf carts to check insurance.
I told the wife if she was stopped on the way to the staging lanes following me there to ignore them and tell them we would stop by after the pass and see them. I do not know if that would have worked or not but it could throw off your regular procedure in the staging lanes.
She was lucky and no one did stop her and ask for anything.

The time to check the insurance coverage is when you get your restricted credentials at the NHRA trailer, but wait that makes to much sense and NHRA would never do that...

[QUOTE=Chris Williams;261531]A year ago one of our fellow racers was motoring along on a scooter when someone backed out of their pit without looking and he ended up going face first into the pavement. Lost a couple teeth, mangled their face and spent the evening in the ER (amazingly he went into the 3rd round the next day). And much worse has happened.

who needed the insurance in this instance? Definately not the guy on the scooter. If you are riding or driving down the road and someone backs out in front of you, it is their fault-not yours.

I guess I better check into getting insurance for our golf cart now. I have never had it before. Unless it is covered by my homeowners or something. Time to call the ins agent. LOL We are racing part time this year to save money, but for some reason we just keep spending more and more.

Tell me again what the NHRA insurance we pay for is used for? We pay for it at nationals and we are supposed to get insurance with our membership as well. Not sure what that is for if we have to be insured for everything.

Ours is $60 per year for coverage on injury, medical, property damage etc. Replacement for theft, fire etc. is not covered under our homeowners policy, have to buy that on its own. Replacement cost for a $4K to $5K cart is less than a $100 a year.

Just try and collect.....
Been there and done that....
It is a load of crap......
They just do not pay a penny....
You get stuck with all the bills and filing on your own dime.
What I was told when I asked why they would not pay I was told "We will defend ourselves as long as it takes and to the full extent of the Contract With NHRA in Court"
A real user friendly group.

There was no judgement on my part, in fact, I've heard others echo your comments. I was merely providing an answer to the question: what's the insurance payment for?
