That was exactly what stock eliminator was in about 1973
Look at it now.

Are our 40+ year old cars going the way of the 50's cars? Will aftermarket replacement parts be allowed? Maybe Glendora wants us to leave, I don't know.

Just my thoughts....

Steve
Not to sling any "poop" here BUT the 428 has within the past few years been given a replacement cam, a couple sets of replacement heads and a replacement carb. Would you like the aluminum Shelby block too? It must be really getting hard to find FE blocks!
RIIIGHT!

Steve,

The NHRA does allow superseded replacement parts on many applications. You can run aluminum heads on your 428 and you can run aluminum heads and a new aluminum intake on a Chevy 396. I am a huge fan of early muscle cars and don't want to see them go away, but finding heads, cranks and intakes, etc., is part of the challenge when you run a car that is 40 years old. It is a huge challenge to run any Class car and in some cases finding parts is part of that challenge. This might sound like a crude answer, but if you want the easy route then build a newer car.

My combo is 17 years old and was only built for three years in small quantaties. Finding heads is hard, finding intakes is nearly impossible. Because of this I've stock-piled intakes and heads for future use and I'm sure many Stock racers have done the same.

Tim, I was in your neck of the woods this afternoon! Had I known I'd have stopped and helped you with that fridge!

1. hoping / asking for rule changes that will never happen because nhra is null and void of intelligence and swayed by the high dollar competitors and is worried about money only because they spend it so ridicuosly.
2. keep plugging away and watch his efforts be thwarted by more $$$$ and more rule changes that favor the faster car / richer competitor as he drifts lower on the qualifying sheet and cannot race at indy anymore
3. quit racing the class he loves, stock eliminator, because he cannot or chooses not to compete with the $$$$$ guys...

face it billy we are a dying breed... we like to win with our intelligence, and hard work that no longer counts...if you cant buy a new mustang or challenger, or afford to buy enough ET to race you aint **** anymore...

sure we can find an obscure combo, a killer caddy or something else, but sooner or later the snowball is gonna run over us. there is NO CHANCE we can ever go back to the days of teardowns at every national event, FARMER handing out horsepower in the staging lanes, and every class winner being represented in the eliminator... you know the way WALLY designed it.

i am about done with it all, maybe it is time for us old dinosaurs to go away... hell it feels like im in an ice age as i type (its frigging cold here)...

Jack, I'm guilty as charged! Hey, Tim Worner wants me to stop by and help him clean out his fridge (although I can't imagine him having much to clean knowing that crew!) and it sounds like the kind of job that you and M.J. could get into. Are ya up for a road trip?

Billy, Jack, Tim, and friends,

Beer is good. Other beverages are good. Get out of the cold, come on down to Florida and share the beverages, in exchange I will give you sun and warmth. Yeah, I know it's like 40 here, but it will be out of here and back to the 80's by the time ya all get here.

Do you guys realize how much work Billy would get done with a couple cans of Vegas Fuel in him? On second thought, his head would probably just pop!

Tim, I've never had one of those colonospagettis but I've been told by lots of people that I'm a "perfect a**hole!" Heck, at least one of them must have been right so I guess I'm OK!
