Here's a novel idea! Since it seems to me that all of a sudden so many of you running fast Stockers are so worried about safety, why don't you just ask NHRA to take the fast Stockers (apparently the ones with the safety issues) and make them SUPER Stockers! Yeah, yeah, take the AA through D cars and make them run SS! That way you'll have to meet the safety regs. of all the other 9 and 10 second cars. Won't have to worry about any of those troublesome 4 and 5 second spots anymore either (low rent, dirtbag, slow stocker scum). Then you can also extend your cage through the firewall to make it safer, put bigger tires on it (we all know how unsafe it is running in the 9s on those skinny tires!), get rid of those flimsy, crappy rocker arms (break one of them and you could lose a motor and oil down those skinny tires), etc, etc, etc. We want all of you guys to feel safe! Seats don't affect the performance at all (except maybe letting you move around some weight which doesn't help performance). Yeah, riiight.
(All of this crap was written in the name of sarcasm) Yeah, riiight.

It is an advantage as far as ballast is concerned. You can save 20lbs or more with aftermarket seats.

I would hate to see seats allowed. I would vote against this.

Billy,

Make that AA through C, my car looks like a factory built car in Stock Eliminator.

NHRA also made me remove my fire extinguisher out of my super gas car about 6 years ago. They said the safety safari will put you out I asked about driving to the lanes needless to say I left it in but most brackets for them are not design for impact so you need some thing better to keep them in place if that should happen. OK stock seats the rule book says stock appearing you do alot with these rules depending on your tech guys can you build new frames for seats that are covered? My seats in my stocker look stock have never been questioned about them. Here is the saftey consern if you walk through the lanes I would say alot I meen alot of the cars are illegal if you read the rule book under roll bar the driver helmet must be 3 inches below the roll bar how many cars meet this. So start copping down your seat brackets to lower your seats change your foam to lower your self in the seats. The rule book says stock appearing.

Last year or the year before there was new racer in Division 1 with an A/SA Nova. He had aftermarket seats in this car. They were covered with black upholstery and they still stuck out like a sore thumb. Stock appearing isn't going to fly with aftermarket seats.
The funny thing is, this driver raced several times with these seats and NHRA never noticed.

Billy,
I think NHRA should allow Micky to protect his azz, now the nuts are a different story, he probably needs to be fixed. JK mick

Fix the seat the way I did it in my bracket Camaro(stock seats). Mark the seat where you're comfortable with the belt in relation to the jewels, put a slit in the seat that the belt will fit through and either find a plastic sleave off of another stock belt or have an upholstery shop finish it to look good.

I won't comment as to whether Mickey needs to be "fixed" but being older an (hopefully) slightly wiser, I'd be a very wealthy man if I had been "fixed" when I was about 15!

That Nova ran Div. 1 in 2008. If you want racing seats run Super Stock.
