I wouldn't worry at all about buying a 100k+ mile modern diesel, as long as they have maintenance records, and preferably have few or zero modifications. With tuners/chips they can definitely run them hard enough to hurt them although even that is rare.

Re: What would be the min size truck to tow 24 foot enclosed?
Possible, yes. Safe, that's the question. With a 1/2 ton you will get pushed around and you won't feel all that stable. I used to tow with a 1/2 ton till I had to panic stop once. Scared the crap oughta me. Went right down on Monday and bought a 2500 HD. It's my daily driver, a little more expensive to drive, but I feel a lot safer.

I have the 2500 HD with the 8.1 L motor. It gets 11 mpg around town and 9 towing. I should have bought the diesel.

Re: What would be the min size truck to tow 24 foot enclosed?
I have an 04 Ford FX4 Screw with 18" wheels and it is only rated to pull an 8500# trailer. I believe it has the 2nd highest towing capability of all the F150s. Not a problem with my open trailer, +6000# loaded but sure throws a damper into getting an enclosed. Mind you that new 5.4 pulls like crazy, never down on power and I have no problem with brakes etc but do have a good controller and equalizer hitch. Have yet to use the bars or anti-sway link with this set-up

Re: What would be the min size truck to tow 24 foot enclosed?
I have a 06 Duramax @65 mph on hwy will avg 19 mpg. @70 it will drop to 15
Towing 9-14 depending on trailer and speed. What I'm saying is go overkill on the tow vehicle and sacrifice some on the dailey driver thoughts. You never know you may buy a bigger trailer in the future. To answer you original question, you can do it with a half ton or a suburban just be careful Chip |

I've mentioned this before but you can buy a single axle semi, IH or Columbia for a lot less than a pickup, you can't drive it everyday but it has suspension and brakes you don't have to worry about.
If you want the big sleepers are available also, just my opinion, I could be wrong. |

I went that route, the down side is ya need a CDL license. Almost anything in that range is going to be over weight (26,000) with a trailer.......... |
