Nothing says you have to run up and stage, make them wait.

Curtesy staging is enforced at this particular drag strip, so if I'd waited a few more moments, the starter would have intervened and had the dragster back up and stage again. I saw an opportunity to take advantage of the situation and did so.

In a bracket or T/D, if you cant back up on your own and find your way to the staging beams you should probably turn in your man card. But that's just me.
For all of the lady's who race these classes, I use the term "Man card" metaphorically.

Not sure about dragsters, but if you're running a turbo car on a no prep track, you need 16 plus a couple standing in front of the car that jump out of the way when you launch....
