You're going to want one of these.
https://markwilliams.com/59300.html Any machine shop with a connecting rod cap grinder can trim it to fit your rear end.

Here are some bracing ideas.
https://www.trzmotorsports.com/produ...g-bracing-etc/ The center is cast steel I believe so you can weld on it, though it looks like they used silicon or aluminum bronze rod.

Hey Larry, I got to admit my first car was a 1953 Studebaker. Mine was way short on power. It had that 232 V8 with a 3 speed and o/d. Carter 4 bbl. made a lot noise but went nowhere. Just like yours except it was white.
Here is a link of a parts store that my handle something if you need it. It is located about 15 minutes from me. https://www.studebaker-intl.com/ Good luck on your project, I'll be looking in on ya from time to time. Ernie SS 354 |

Curious. Instead of all that work on an 8.8 " Ford, why not just get a complete 9 inch?
Seems like a lot less effort. Love the car ![]() My fathers favorite car was a 53 Studebaker roadster. As I recall they did not have a V8. His was a six cylinder, three speed overdrive. Because of the body shape I remember a trip in eastern Oregon where he said we were going nearly 110 MPH. That was about 1958.
