But I did find that under Section 21 General Regulations 8:5, that all cars must be self-starting, so I guess that answers my question.

Thanks...

I have seen opponents do that from time to time, although I don't remember ever losing a race to someone who had to be bump-started...

My question was regarding an SS/VX combo, which apparently is not required to self-charge or self-cool.

I've been drag racing for less than half a century (since the '70s), so I've probably got a lot to learn...

Tried that at Topeka years ago, old Stewart about blew a fuse, also tried it at the Mile Highs, same response. Started buying New batteries every year after that. . If they catch you it is s no go.

Adding to what Jim said about the rule book...
Remember when you think you have found that special area between the black and white you have to come up against the dreaded NHRA TECHNICAL POLICIES & PROCEDURES manual.
As some people call it the ** manual...

You might get away with it once at a race, but if you tried doing it the whole time I'm sure tech wouldn't allow it.

It happened in Pro Stock years ago, Dodge Boys they had to shut it off and restart it. Does the starter have to be in the stock location? Tom
