Default Re: 67 4 dr hemi belvedere

Currently, there are four known '66 Hemi Coronet 4-door Sedans, 3 Deluxe models, 1 440 Model.

1 - Red, tan interior automatic car.
1- White, tan interior automatic car.
1- Bronze, tan interior automatic car.
1- Blue, blue interior 4-speed car. This is the 440 Model.

There is a '66 Hemi Plymouth Belvedere II 4-door that is known out of the New Jersey area. The car is believed to be long gone. There are numerous detailed photographs of the car from the 1960's/70's, but the VIN is not known at this time.

There is also a '67 Hemi Belvedere 4-door in Finland. It is the only known factory built '67 Hemi 4-door car at this time.

The original owner (ex-Dodge Dealer) of my '66 Hemi Coronet, claims that when he bought my car at the Dealer's auction, there were 3 '66 Hemi Coronet 4-doors there, all white/green interior, 4-speed cars. Supposedly one went to Town & Country Dodge in Eastern Ohio, where the drivetrain was removed and the car sold as used with a 273/318 in it.

Until someone sits down and goes through the Chrysler IBM Card Archives, the true number of '66-67 Hemi 4-doors will be unknown.

The one I worked on was white, I thought it had a blue or maybe green interior but I have worked on a lot of cars so??? That car was purchased by Dave Betthauser from an older gentleman that was supposed to be the original owner, I think from out west so maybe the Washington car. Dave restored muscle cars, particularly Mopars, and was very fanatical with his research. He was adamant that only two of those cars were built, at least from the factory anyway.

The red car belonged to native Wichitan Floyd Cline of "Pappy's Dyno" fame and was sold many years ago in need of restoration.

For what my input is worth, I agree 100 percent with Tracy. Just for fun, some years ago, I made a little project out of running down the then-mythical Hemi 4-door sedans. Tracy is absolutely right, there were a total of 2 built, both '66s. If memory serves, one was red, the other beige or white. Garlits has the beige/white one and at the time of my "investigation" the red one was being restored, in California. If Steve's information is correct, it is truly amazing. Whether two or five in total, they are beyond value.

I really beg to differ with some of you gentlemen, BUT I was a Car Salesman in Milwaukee, WI in 1966--1968, and I sold a lot of Hemi cars , and we also got a lot of the Factory Screw ups from the zone office when they saw the job we were doing on Hi-Performance cars, at North Avenue Chrysler Plymouth, on 29th & North Ave ! There was at least 4 Hemi 4 doors in the Doge line and 3 in the Plymouth line ! And regardless of what was supposedly a rumor we did sell a Hemi Wagon ! That was bought by a man from Racine,Wis, and turned into a race car which at the time was tubbed,a cage, it was also a 4/speed, a C/MP class ! Back then the car was running in the low 10.Teens ! I believe that car is now in Elkton Minnesota , owned by Fred Engelhart ! I also think a gentleman name Lee Smith from Illinois ran the wagon ! This is a real test of the memory of a 78 year old mind ! And I do know this to be for real ! ! That's also the reason for me to sell my Car !...John

Mister Stasko posted just above this about a Powder Blue Dodge 4dr Hemi car, you might want to check if that Blue Dodge came from the Midwest, as I had a Powder Blue Coronet II,W/Blue interior, that I used as a Demo at the North Ave Dealership ! And it was a 4sp Hemi Car !... John

The blue car is in Minnesota last I knew. It was an EE1 Dark Blue Metallic car, with all of it's original paperwork. It's the only known 440 Model 4-door with a Hemi.

Here is the bronze automatic car. Sold new in Canada, restored in Ohio.
