Tommy, if it "shoots numbers all over the place" in open loop you need to fix your tuning. No way that should make it faster or slower. If it's making more than a couple percent corrections your base tuning is wrong.

was in Norwalk and Zasokoski had me prestaged 20 seconds and 6 before he staged, good sportsmanship

I saw a couple people taking forever to stage in Columbus this past weekend, then double bulbing their opponents when they did finally go in. Seems unnecessary to me.
Also, in Chicago, I saw one competitor screw around on a heads up run. He did his burn out, stopped, jumped around in his seat for a while acting like he was doing things, just wasting time to get his opponents engine hot. He proceeded to get treed and outrun by over a tenth. LOL

so open loop and closed loop are 2 different things, what do they do? I thought it had to be in a certain loop per NHRA, just asking because I don't know?

Tuned properly in open loop is as fast as closed loop.
