They got 6+ inches in Baytown overnight, sportsman pits or anyone that parked in the grass will have problems getting out. Remember a few years ago the pits flooded and many racers could not get their RV's out, they were having to trucks and someone brought in some Bull Dozers to get folks out. Still unsure of the sportsman classes as of right now and when if at all they will run, assessments are being made now on schedules.

Thumbs down Re: Sprinkling rain at Houston Oreilly Spring Nats

Most sportsmans' pits are a mess. Carrying mud and water up is a certain safety concern. Will be interesting to see what they decide! We need boots to walk in our pit!

Flooded Pits Scramble Schedule Again
By Larry Sullivan

The Only Thing Certain Is That It's Uncertain

BAYTOWN, Texas - 7:25 a.m. The good news is that the torrential downpour yesterday evening used up so much energy that the atmosphere is very calm today and we are unlikely to see more than a sprinkle or two today.
Right now, there are thin clouds overhead and west of here, where the monsoon came from yesterday, are clear, blue skies today.

The bad news is that between 3.5 and 6 inches of rain fell in a short time yesterday, heavy even by Houston standards, and the unpaved pit areas are flooded.

Race officials are still evaluating the situation for those cars parked "beyond the blacktop," but it is unlikely that the Sportsman competitors (except Pro Mod, Top Alcohol and maybe Competition Eliminator) will be able to get to the staging lanes until later today, if at all. To bad for all the sportsman racers, I have been there when it rained and it is not pretty getting drug out of that soup hole. Tom

Check list for next time we come to Houston racing, 1 gas powered water pump with about 200 feet of hose,,, We are one of the more lucky ones. I do not step out of the motorhome into a lake. Sounds like we may not run until tomorrow and they are calling for more rain tomorrow. Are we having fun yet?

And just think the owners own a paving company.....

Would think that they could put down a good base and lay down some off spec asphalt, but hey who am I to talk?

Ed, sorry looks like you already are a "Live" Reporter!

Larry just talked to Jeff Teuton and asked him if he could get out, and he said "Yeah, I am in an official NO WAKE zone" LOL

Hopefully ya'll will get the race in and not have to come back again like they are at Indy!

Good luck!
