Thats easy for the venders.......Unite and stop all forms of advertizing, with NHRA in dragster or sponsoring.... we as racers know where to go if there is something is needed, (for the most part)
Racers and Venders need to look at what those other two demostration orgs. are doing. Making point known !

Remember when they banned sportsman racers from selling their car/team shirts off the back of the trailer. It was quite a while ago.Even the pros have to sign a contract to sell their merchandise.
These idiots could teach the Mafia some tricks of the trade. They're shameless.

Well, well, well, apparently NHRA gives no quarter to whom they're willing use to refill their coffers. Everyone knows the answer, the way to make NHRA sit up and pay attention however no ones willing to take steps toward it.

I think they are grasping for straws now. If they are going to institute this new "idea" they maybe should have given notice that effective for the 2012 season "this is what the situation is gonna be".---give any interested manucacturers/suppliers/mail order companies etc. the opportunity to opt out if they so choose---- otherwise you are going to be charged X dollars to put up a banner in the future---I really wonder what would happen if Jegs/Summit/Moroso whoever if they put up a banner or banners WITHOUT paying the $6500---What is the NHRA gonna do about it???? Jegs or Summit could decide they do not want to be the title rights sponsor for the Sports or Bracket series now what is NHRA gonna do ??? Who ya gonna get to put up that kinda money??? Most large companies have already finalized their advertising budgets for 2012 so there really is not a lot of room to threaten a sponsor cuz ya just can't get a replacement in a moments notice.
As far as a removal expense that just does not exist . If you notice when the races are over the racers and others are out cutting them down as fast as they can. Yes some of the smaller banner advertisers retrieve their banners but most just walk away from them not worth trieng to save them they are either damaged or not worth the effort to do it. |

Yeah, the "removal costs" are hilarious. When fights break out among fans cutting the banners down on their way out.

Do I understand this right? A. Sponser X pays to sponser NHRA events. and then B. Has to pay a second time to put a banner up so everybody knows they sponsered it. Then C. has to pay a third time to pay to take down the banners that were stolen by the vultures on the way out the gate sunday night. I see why some of you guys get so frustrated. Maybe its a good thing my stocker project was destroyed by the tonado last may.

“Some of our sponsors who have a significant investment in the sport sometimes feel that a company can come in on a lesser degree of investment with a contingency program and have those bannering rights and for those sponsors, it’s a big tilt on the value equation,” Darcy explained.
Meaning what? Jegs and Summit are or arent getting special treatment? If I spent the money they did with NHRA, this could be considered a slap in the face! Talk about pissing off your best customers, damn. Wade O |

Gary Darcy, NHRA senior VP of marketing says:
“There was no strong push back on it,” said Darcy, of the group’s reaction to the bannering reassignment. “This should not come as a big surprise and had been discussed. We openly sought input within the committee.” “Some of our sponsors who have a significant investment in the sport sometimes feel that a company can come in on a lesser degree of investment with a contingency program and have those bannering rights and for those sponsors, it’s a big tilt on the value equation,” Darcy explained. LOL, He said "some" of our sponsors and "sometimes feel" in the same sentence...LOL.. In my conclusion: Some of the sponsors don't like the other small guys...So, they are willing to pay the money to put up banners to bluff the small guys out... Did NHRA ever do a feature on Ray Skillman and the 1 million dollars he put down for kids to play sports in Indiana... NHRA has some balls thats for sure.. http://www.ibj.com/ray-skillman-give.../article/28384 Last edited by Jason Fuller; 11-08-2011 at 02:18 PM. |
