The fact that you have to actually drive the cars (Stock) not using timers, stops, TB's, etc. It's as close as you can get to the old days.

Through the years, super stock has led drag racing in many different directions, thanks to technology and the racers’ own creativity, the factory experimental class grew out of super stock. As did funny car and pro stock, which has become one of drag racing’s all time favorite competitions. But those early 60s and 70's Dodges and Plymouths, Chevrolet, Pontiacs, Fords still hold a place in many peoples’ hearts. Today, even with all the changes in racing, or maybe because of them, the super stockers and stockers are just as popular as they ever were and thanks to some new technology, they’re even faster. I enjoy the family environement and of course the wheels up action. Too bad NHRA doesn't realize that the real show is the sportsmans class.

I've said it a million times before. We're not a car culture society anymore.Especially from a drag racing perspective. We race now mostly for ourselves, families and friends.

Seeing the Ed Fernandez reply reminded me of the thundering stampede of people leaving the stands at Indy one year when they fired up the Jr Dragsters. EEEEEEK !
Unfortunately I was trying to go up the stairs. Now about what there is to like about Stock and Super Stock? The low cost of everything is hardly anything compared to a space shuttle launch. |

Making something run fast/quick that should not be. The people in S/SS are 2nd to none. Oh yea & no DAM buy backs! (other then @ a local combo race)

X2 to Ed Carpenter, and Jim R., and older racer.
I also like the variety of vehicles being raced, plus I think it's cool that even my fwd V6 runs as quick (within the rules), as V8's did in past years in this class!
