1949 Ford flathead, amazingly it could hold it's own with the new Mustangs with 6's. When I started college I got a new 67 SS396/325 Chevelle. Nice car then followed by Dart 340 Swinger and then a 68 Charger...that's it for the sixties! Nice thread!

1966 my uncle bought a '67 Le mans.He gave me his '60 four door Catalina 389/2bbl auto.I put dual exh. with pipes under the rear out the back and 8:25 thin whitewalls with baby moons.Put all sorts of racing decals on the rear door glass. It was stock engine wise but it sure left from a stop light with the Turbo Hydramatic trans.I parked this car,and a '55
Chevy,'56 Chevy 2 dr S/W and '57 Chevy Nomad with a straight axle (red and white paint and red and white r&p interior) on the streets of Greenwich Village in Manhattan back then.Try that now.

Hey I was trying! This was factory stock in 66. I don't know where the transistor radio was in this photo, but it was tuned to "Little Deuce Coupe" I'm sure!

First car was a '63 VW. Sold it after three months and bought and built a '31 Model A Ford with a 331 Desoto HEMI. Drove that all through High School. I then ordered my '71 Dodge Demon 340. Still own that car. Ran it in AHRA Stock Option and eventually NHRA Stock and Super Stock. I still have the Demon and it has 15,003 miles on the odometer. Jim

In 1965 I bought a 63 Plymouth Belvedere 2ht and replaced the 318 with a 62 300H 413 380hp. Never replaced the 2.76 gear and it was awsome from 30 to 70mph.Cruise the streets at 30mph looking for a race...I'll never forget the 2x4 sound echo off the buildings on Lake st!

My daily driver in 1966 was a real nice '58 Pontiac Chieftain. Was re-painted by a local shop known for doing nice work. White with blue coves and roof. I raced it a few times and started hopping it up and ran in the 14's a few times. Won G/SA class and ran Jr Stock once or twice....

I learned to drive in a 1960 Chevy Impala 4 dr 348/4 BBL/3 speed auto
Black with red benchseat interior. It had been my grandfathers but he died about 6 months after buying it so my mom got it next. The year was 1964. Oh also got to drive a early corvair 4 speed convert back then too.

In 1965 I ordered a new1965 426 w/auto street wedge Belvedere 2 Plymouth. What a dog ! Ran at Aquasco, and Capitol mostly. Won several class trophies after changing the rear, added M/T headers and slicks I bought from JC Penny. In 1966-67 I spent a lot of time in a Huey UH 1 for Uncle Sam. Came back and bought a 66 Vette 327/350 HP and ran E/SP at Ohio Valley and US 60 in Kentucky. Won a few times there also.
P.S. Danny.....I remeber lots of good times in 1965 running with Sam Samuels, Bob Maxey, Joe Perzan, Mike Miatico, Gene Calhoon, Rocky Martin, "Pop" Kennedy, Gene Collins, Sonny Freeman, but of course they always beat me in the eliminator.....LOL. Cushman scooter, then a 1946 Dodge business Cpe W/warmed up 327 4 speed then 1967 Vette w/427/400 3x2's 4 speed. The Vette became a race car and then a 1969 440 RT as a daily driver got me out of the 60's. Man did my buddies liked that RT. Lots of room, went pretty fast and had one hell of an trunk to ice down with our favorite brew!! Oh! Almost forgot dear old Dad bought a 1968 383 GTS Dart in 1968.
