Bill Jenkins has been in the hospital. He did have an operation to drain excess blood from his brain. Even though the technology is amazing and the success rate impressive, the first 24 hours following this surgery are dicey. He's through that and back in his room. Therapy will start soon. Recovery is a process and let us pray he travels that road as he traveled the quarter-mile, a winner!

Thanks for the updates, Tom! Bill has always been my hero, ever since he swerved to avoid hitting me in the pits at E-town in 1968!
![]() My prayers are with him for a speedy recovery! Lew

Mr. Jenkins remains one of my few heroes.
In the late sixties, when other 10 year olds had posters of Joe Namath on their wall, I had pictures of each Grumpy's Toy, from the A/Stock 1966 Nova, to his 1969 Pro Stock Camaro. What's especially poignant is the prospect of brain damage- consider all the knowledge that could be lost. Here's hoping for the best.

A hero to many. I would hope his knowledge has been passed on to fellow racers and friends. This is always a loss when great , skilled people are lost or injured. Good Luck Mr. Jenkins.

Sad to hear about "Grump" being in the hospital. Just read an article at www.nhra.com about it;
http://www.nhra.com/story/2010/9/22/...oma-procedure/ I have been a fan of his since I was young. Still have Hot Rod mag with an article on his Monza. Wishing him well and a speedy recovery. Rick |

Although I'm a lifelong Mopar fan and car owner, I've always admired and respected "da Grump" and his race cars. I am proud to be counted amongst his many legions of fans.
A fast and speedy, full recovery to you, Mr. William Tyler Jenkins! M68 Last edited by mopar68; 09-23-2010 at 04:17 AM. |
