Wah,Wah, Wah, enough already, I have never seen more crying about 1(one) car(combo) such as this. They have not smoked anyone in class, yet a handful of whiners continue to cry about it ( most do not race in the same class) SHUT UP . I am unaware of anyone who has built or bought a car based on a magazine story who has gone and destroyed a class due an underfactored combo. As I have said before, If this was a GM combo, nothing would be said.
PS, If this combo is such a killer,go buy one!!!

What's more incredible is the streetability of the CJ engine. With a Tremec trans, mufflers, and street gears I assume it would be no different than any other "hot rod" street 'Stang. I can't get over the smooth idle. Try driving an "old school" stocker on the street. Not sure about other stick racers, but because of the short cam lobe separation mine would be a challenge at maintaining low speed.

That's because you've never seen such an unfair, ridiculously UNDER-FACTORED car enter Stock Eliminator before. (with apologies to Bob Shaw) It's never happened. Nobody has a problem with the car, itself; it's the NHRA-mandated HP factor they put on it that is the problem. Fix the factor and the problem will go away. What's wrong with that?

If the car were in the books and found by a racer and built and appeared with this same underrated HP some would call the guy a hero and an industrious star of Stock and SS.
The fact it is new, it has today type factory support and is fairly expensive and limited in availability brings up the jealousy in many people. It seems a BBC cobalt, a 400 , a Turbo Mustang, a ..........(fill in the blank) cant hold a light to the upset created by it. Like to race NHRA? Feel they really care about this type of oversight? Good Luck with that. They will essentially allow anything in Sportsman racing if someone will build it and PAY ENTRY.They have justified Participant racing in S and SS and Sportsman level in general and efficiently ignore the workings as long as the GATE MONEY covers overhead and keeps it profitable. Good Luck |

Ed - I'd have to agree -- it wasn't fair -- it wasn't even fun -- kind of like fishing with a hand grenade . Things do have a way of sorting out -- that same LT1 H/SA combo is now C/SA and still competitive .............and a lot more expensive ! !

Ed O'Brien said, "If I recall things right the LT1's ran in H/SA and what was so fair about that ?"
Nobody said that was fair, and they got horsepower, did they not? They no longer run H/SA. The pity is / was, it took forever to happen, and so will this CJ deal if NHRA is left to their own devices. The AHFS is just not effective from a time-standpoint, in dealing with this sort of problem. In the meantime, two wrongs don't make a "right." This needs to be addressed sooner, rather than later. My 2-cents....

Bill -- One of the reasons it took so long to "catch up" was because there were so few cars running the LT1's in the beginning but there are plenty of the CJ's out already and more coming -- they will "slip up" and get factored much faster ..........

If we truely want to be fair than we better put some horsepower on the big block chevys also. They seem to be atleast 200 horses over their 430 factor.Add enough weight and they will all be junk.
