Patsy,
Thanks for the reports. Makes it easier to sit out a weekend. At least there's only a week to wait for Memphis. Good luck, and hope Larry finds out why it slowed down. Say hi to Keith Lynch for me if you see him.

Well we picked up a little this morning. But we went down with Barton--he went 10.11 to our 10.29. Doesn't look good for us in class a little later this morning. Looks like it is going to be a beautiful day. Clear skies, 81 for high. It is really wet out there today 97% humidity. They have called superstock up, then it is SC, then class. Jerry Bennett is already headed back to KY after spinning a bearing in the clean-up run. Don't know if he will have it fixed by Memphis next week or not.
Wish us luck in class. I think our only chance is for everybody else to screw up, but you just never know! More later. Patsy |

Patsy,Larry, Great looking car. Good luck today. Maybe you will tune up a tenth here and there....Columbus is an altitude track without an adjustment if that helps.... Dick Butler

Well, as you can see on DRC, Larry redlighted against Randy Wilkes 1st round of class. There were a lot of redlights that round. Just went up and watched the hemi shootout. Really great looking cars!
I don't know when the 2nd round of class is being run, but left in A/SA are Barton, Wilkes and Lynch. They have already drawn for the bye and Lynch got it. So Randy is icing his down trying to get ready for Barton. Wilkes won at Indy so I am sure Barton really wants to get him back. It is still a really nice day. The barometric pressure is getting better but the temp is up to about 80. I met Bret Velde and his wife this morning. Really nice people. More later. Patsy |

Larry,
We appreciate all the good "insider" information. Can you tell us which engine is in Barton's A/SA car? Is it the "NASCAR" single 4bbl Hemi engine, or a Stage III wedge? Thanks for any info! Bill

The Barton Dodge is a 1965 model with the single quad carb hemi engine. 1965 Chrysler cars did not come with a max wedge 426, 1964 was the last year for the max wedge.

Are the Wescott Hemi cars both sticks? I see Jr went 8.51 at 155 and his dad ran over 157 mph.
That's the worst part about these new class designations. We can't tell a stick from an auto as easily. On the other hand we now can in Comp. |

Thanks, Bruce and Tony. I don't recall seeing a "single 4bbl" Hemi in Stock, before, so I'm going to assume that this is the "NASCAR" version of the 426 Hemi that reportedly, the Teutons were attempting to race before NHRA added horsepower to it (ostensibly, before anyone got one operational.)
Looks like it may be a viable "candidate" in spite of NHRA's knee-jerk sharp pencil...
