Re: "Live" from our Southwestern Swing
Well, we have been on the road for 2 and a half hours and have gone 61 miles. We are taking the scenic route on US 60 instead of I40 most of the way. And of course, that runs us close to Sikeston, MO where the famous Lambert's Restaurant--Home of the Throwed Rolls. So we had to stop and have lunch. I have pics I will post later. Back on the road again!

Re: "Live" from our Southwestern Swing
Larry and Patsy, wish Alice and I were on this western trip with you guys, as we had a ball last year. We are planning to go next year....so hope maybe you folks can go along with us. Good luck racing, be safe, and visit the Blueberry Hill restaurant near the track in Vegas. Our group ate there almost every day of our 11-day stay in Vegas last year!!!!!! Good food. We will be watching for your posts as you travel west. Joe and Alice Tysinger

Re: "Live" from our Southwestern Swing
Well we drove 370 miles today. All the way to Joplin, MO. It is about 230 more to Noble, so we should be there by noon or so. The flyer says they don't start parking til 3. Do they usually wait til then? Here are a couple of shots from today:
Just a few miles from home. Exciting 2 lane blacktop! The Courthouse in Wickliffe, KY Nice curvy bridge going across the Ohio River Going into Illinois across the Ohio River Last edited by Larry Hill; 10-05-2011 at 09:45 PM. Reason: Wrong river! |

That sign says "Welcome to Illinois"! Main Street in the dead town of Cairo, IL That sign says Missouri State Line. Somehow I am going to have to figure out how to get better pictures of the signs! Missouri State Line again Larry in front of Lambert's Cafe |

Re: "Live" from our Southwestern Swing
Larry's caption for this one "Patsy's Big Jugs" This was what was left after I finished eating the chicken livers, fried taters, macaroni and tomatoes and black-eyed peas. And of course, there were all those "throwed rolls". Of course, I missed when the guy threw the roll and it hit me in the face! Does anybody know what these things did? Looks real, doesn't it? |
