With only 9 passes on the tires & peddling, tripping 60' with back tires & front suspension changes; I'll try & take a wag. Caveat, this is a bracket car & we have a mild tune-up with boost & EFI for high 8s 1/4 mile & 5.70's 1/8 mile. Between the 2 different tires there's no noticeable difference between the two. We have gone a best 1.28 on the M/T's & this weekend once we settled in with taming the suspension. We ended up with 1.31x 60's with the Hoosiers. With no noticeable difference in ET's. Previously, when our car was N/A. When we switched between the M/T's & the Hoosiers (not the FS tires). The car was .5 - .10 quicker with the Hoosiers. The PBR M/T's are a heavy tire. |

Re: Hoosier C30 Compound
We have a TnT & 2 points races this coming weekend. The plan is to race with our primary tire's M/T PBR's using our same set-up we used with the Hoosiers this past weekend. I'm pretty sure we'll have to loosen the front-end up with the Mickeys, but we'll see; 1st couple passes will be the same set-up.
I know J.R. had a couple questions, hopefully we can provide some comparison information. |

Re: Hoosier C30 Compound
Start with the Hoosiers C30 compound I ran on Feb 16 & 17; the DA was 2500' - 2700'. I only picked the 3 last 60's because that's where I settled in on no changes to the shocks/suspension. These were done in the same lane with careful shallow staging.
1.316 1.316 1.313 This past weekend with the M/T PBR's Feb 23rd; the DA was 26xx' for both runs. This was the same set-up as with the Hoosiers & the same lane as above with careful shallow staging. 1.336 1.335 Both tires were run with 20 lbs. air. The M/T's are mounted on 9" wide rims & the Hoosiers are on 10" wide rims. The same burnout was done for both. My take on the Hoosier's are they're a very aggressive compound & I still need to work on the set-up to calm the wheelies down more. As for the Mickey's, the Hoosier set-up was right for these tires; nice low trajectory 60' wheelie. I did make some fuel table changes at the launch rpm/coming off the 2 step. The 60' settled in at 1.34x for Sat. & Sun. I screwed up on the Sat. race, but did manage the semi-finals on Sun. |

Re: Hoosier C30 Compound
This post is not about the OP, it's about some of the subject matter.
I think I mentioned the Hoosiers are going on the back burner or maybe I didn't. Anyway, I/we have the upcoming Spring Fling Million race(s) coming up. I may or may not enter but are preparing as if. I decided to buy new 29.5x10.5 M/T PBRs over using our new low run Hoosiers if we decide to run the race(s). The new tires should be on for our points race on Mar. 30th. |

Re: Hoosier C30 Compound
Got the new M/T PBRs in today, they felt extra heavy. While I've weighed them before, these came in at 34 lbs. each. M/T list them at 31 lbs.
Oh well, they work great on our/my car & they're fast enough for a bracket car. |

Re: Hoosier C30 Compound
Our points race was cancelled for rain today. We did have a TnT yesterday & there was a good many Spring Fling racers testing. I did get to make my last test pass against the best & took some learning away from it!
Anyway, we had the new M/T PBRs on & the car was struggling to pick the tires up & 60's were slow. I did loosen up the front shocks & it responded slightly. I think it was a combination of TnT prep & the worst air we've been in. I'm sure on Tues. our only test run(s) for the Spring Fling we will have better track prep. |

Re: Hoosier C30 Compound
I tried M/T PBR 28x10.5s for the first time last week and it was literally the best my car has ever worked. Fastest (relative to weather conditions) and straightest the car has ever gone. Mounted on a 12 inch wide single beadlock wheel. Got a little aggressive with the NOS tune-up and almost turned it over backwards. I dialed it back and made a couple of really great test passes. See results:

The Keizer wheels are awesome. Can't beat them for the price. Look great, interchangeable centers, and SFI certified. These are a 15x12 single beadlock with 2.5 or 3 inch backspacing, can't remember exactly which.

Re: Hoosier C30 Compound
Finally found a product bulletin on this tire. I still only have 9 passes on these tires. I'm pretty sure I can win on them.
I hope to get more testing/racing on them this fall. https://www.hoosiertire.com/images/c...30%20(002).pdf |
