We are here and parked. We are down by the scales where stock usually parks. To have gotten 8 and a half inches of rain in the last 24 hours, the pits are amazingly good. There is rock down under the grass in here so we should be good and dry in a couple of days. More later. It's wine time. (and Jeff, I am using proper stemware)!

Just got back from a good shrimp dinner at Landry's. They are stacking rigs in the staging lanes this evening. More tomorrow. Basketball is on now!

A beautiful day here in Belle Rose. Woke up to lots of fog this morning, but it is partly sunny now. It is supposed to get 84 today, so bring your summer clothes! The water is slowly going down, but they are parking everyone. I will get some pics and post more of Butch's pics later today. Oh, BTW, if you are coming down, be sure and bring ant killer with you. There are huge hills in the grass and sometimes you don't notice them until they are climbing up your leg. Larry and Greg Hill are going out to the hardware store in a while and get some killer.
More later. |

Hi Patsy,
Tell Larry to save his money with insecticide. Go get your regular gas can, with regular gas. Using the small breather spout make a large ring around the nest. This cuts off their escape route, then put some in the center of the nest, now they have nowhere to go and die off rather quickly. Do not light it on fire no matter how much you want to. This works and is less expensive, plus you get to see insects die a slow miserable death. Note: do not put your fingers in the center of the nest. Another thing for all you enjoying Belle Rose. If you feel the ground underneath you and it's a little soft, it's an ant hill. I have encountered numerous ant hills both at the races and on sports fields. You all have fun now. Ron Ortiz U/SA they communicate and sting all at once

Ron's idea is a great one, except the don't light it on fire part. Lighting it on fire adds to the excitment!!!
![]() I'm glad you and Larry are having a good trip. Looking forward to more reports and pictures. Hey Dan Moore, you're #1. ![]() RIP Mark Graham & WB Hutto

It has been a very nice and relaxing day here at the track. I got the motorhome kinda cleaned up and my golf cart cleaned up, too. Larry worked on the grill and then cooked us some chicken for supper. I have seen lots of stockers and superstockers here already. The ground is still pretty soft, but I haven't seen anybody getting stuck. Thanks for the ideas on the ants. Larry had already bought some white stuff to sprinkle on them. If that doesn't work, we will try the gas tomorrow. The weather is still supposed to be sunny the rest of the week.
I will post some more pics later. |

Patsy,
This is a dumb question, but is Supper your 4th meal of the day? My Mother grew up in North Dakota, and Supper was always after Dinner-usually 2-3 hours later. I never heard of this, as we always have breakfast, lunch and dinner. I thought this might be a regional thing. My family back East are farmers, so I thought that might be part of it. Thanks for all of your posts! It makes me very happy to see someone racing! Jeff Goss SS/MA 6990 ![]() |

Jeff,
Supper in the south is what most folks call dinner. We call dinner the noon meal or lunch. You hear of dinner theater, but not supper theater! Hopefully you will be racing soon! |
