How about Bobby DeArmond's 1969 Camaro the first stocker in the 9's and there is not a nicer car of any kind anywhere! And I didn't see a reference to Cal & MaryAnn Method's Chevy Nova which has won it's share of national & divisional races. Only God car remember how long they have raced that car.

Jerry, I wish you would try to get Hendrick to display the Strickler Z28 and the Mongoose/Snake collection in the public display area at his shop. Would be a great way to convey part of Drag Racing's history to the youth passing thru the NASCAR shop.

Jim, I have no say in that. It's his personal collection for guests when they visit. Not much I can do. Rick will need to expand as he's running out of room now. I have no idea where he will put the new pieces he bought at BJ. The Hot Wheels collection will take up a lot of space just by itself.

Kevin, to stick with your original question, in an auction type situation, I think it would be hard to beat Ben Wenzel's original Z-28. One owner. He's still racing it. It wins. And it has a storybook history..... They should give him the Div. 3 number - 401k. JB

Dick, so you changed the car to a 2 door window wagon? Do you know the whereabouts of the car today? Thanks. |

post #108 mentioned the 1969 SS/AMX and questioned if any of the originals are running. The answer is yes my car is # 20 of that group and I still race it mostly at IHRA events. It came from Bill Swad AMC dealer in Columbus, ohio and was purchase and raced by the late Ray Whinery who lived in Lisbon, OH. I bought the car fom Ray in 1973.It should be worth a few pennies.

Post up any original / current photos and statistics you have on the car. We have Hemi Dart (LO23) and Hemi Cuda (BO29) topics that are stacked with history. I know there is an S/S AMX website....... but not here. :-) It all started with Liteweight's hunt for info on his Hemi Dart and has blown up into an entire forum. Any pictures/any car from the past should be documented there. Old guys can bring back a LOT of history..... Last edited by Charlie A; 01-28-2014 at 10:32 AM. |
