Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers
Saving this spot for more Randi Lyn info & pics.
Anybody know how many races Randi Lyn has won with the Bird. Would like a break down of nat events, div races, and all smaller races. Her FB friends list is full. But, one of my FB friends is on her list. So, I've asked him to try & get some info from her. Last edited by oldskool; 12-27-2019 at 12:45 PM. |

I think they give Bob Aceves the credit for the 8hp hike in the '68 Bird 330hp car. I could hardly believe it when I saw that they just took 5hp back off that combo. I've noticed that sometimes the exact same engine will have a higher factor in different body styles. One of those is the 1977 400 180hp engine. It gets 283 in a Bird. But, you can run it in anything else at 260hp. I suppose there were certain cars running real quick with that combo, that caused the hit. But, from what I've read here, it's not just Pontiac engines that get this treatment. I reckin it just depends on which body styles are makin the noise. |

Or, maybe they just changed the format or something. It doesn't work for me like it use to. https://www.autoimagery.com/index |

Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers
The next '67 Bird I wanna talk about belongs to Bryan Phillips. As mentioned, it should be exactly the same combo as Randi Lyn runs.
While lookin thru the Indy class winners, I noticed that Bryan got the D/SA class win, in 2012, with a 10.733. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2012#indextop In the middle of July this year, he qualified #24, with a 10.695, in D/SA, at a West coast Lucas Oil Series race. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop Last edited by oldskool; 07-11-2020 at 12:46 PM. |

Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers
Right now, this is the only other pic I have of a '67 Bird Stocker. Don't know who it belongs to or any other info.
So, I need some help makin an ID. The permanent # looks to begin with a 7. So, I assume it was a West coast car. And, I need names and/or pics of other '67 Bird Stockers. Last edited by oldskool; 12-26-2019 at 10:36 AM. |

Here's some '67 Bird Stockers. One has an OHC Six.

Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers
Lee Bannister comes to mind, in 1999-2000 he was in 11 finals and won 8 of them in NHRA and IHRA i belive it was a 1972 firebird 455 that was driven by the creator of the Texas Twister "Lee B" himself which many got to experience first hand. Not sure how fast it would run but, rarely lost a hdsup in elimination's and surprised quite a few.
