Re: 69 Camaro B/S
After a few weekends of racing I was able to spend some time on the stocker.
Seemed like a good time to get started on the clutch.... or so I thought Everything was going smooth until I insalled the Bellhousing, the Mcleod aluminum bellhousing I bought with the understanding fits this combo. Apparently there are "issues" 1st.. counter weight fingers 2nd.. I was told the base adjusters could be reached through the inspection window. [IMG][/IMG] 3rd.. the fork hitting the pressure plate with the pivot ball backed all the way out. [IMG][/IMG] My frustration was only amplified after 2 phone calls with techs who had no idea what I was talking about. Finally today I spoke to the lead tech who was aware of these issues. I'm not at all happy my 1100 Mcleod bellhousing will not direct fit my Mcleod clutch but they seem more than willing to get this sorted. So far the plan is to change out the fingers for a newer style that should give 1/8" clearance. He is gonna send another block plate for another 1/8" if needed. some machine work is needed on the rear plate to get the fork off the pressure plate and have proper stroke. Far as the base adjusters.... think im gonna have to make something to go through the fork window. |

Re: 69 Camaro B/S
You can get billet aluminum spacers that go between the block and block saver in either 1/8 or 1/4 in. That should give you the clearance you need for the levers and the pressure plate to fork. Also, are the heads ground flat on the pressure plate that hold the levers in place so they don't protrude past the surface of the pressure plate cover? It looks as though they are in the picture but not sure. Also, by using the spacer, that will give you plenty of end play. Some were having problems with the input of the trans bottoming out against the pilot bearing and wiping out the thrust bearing. You can drill a hole in the face of the bellhousing where the trans bolts to for base adjustment. Lastly, if you haven't done so, zero out the bellhousing.
Here is a link for the spacer.https://www.summitracing.com/oh/part...-250/overview/ I enjoyed following the progress on your car. Coming along nicely. Hope to see you at the Dutch in the fall!

Re: 69 Camaro B/S
I would bolt the trans. to the bell on the ground and measure the face of the bell to the end of the input shaft then measure the mounting surface on the block to the pilot bearing. Just to make sure the input shaft isn't bottoming out into the pilot. Looking good keep up the nice work.

Re: 69 Camaro B/S
Very cool build! Only one question, I didn’t think the roll bar through the firewall to the front frame was legal in stock eliminator?

Re: 69 Camaro B/S
Was that a change this year? I have the 2017 rule book and it states otherwise, and only reason I ask is I have a super stock Dakota that I’m building that also has this bars through the firewall but I could run stock also if that’s the case, it’s a small tire stock wheelwell truck.
