All of these ideas have merit. From a points keeping standpoint we have been using the Roxboro points system where you get 3 entry points and 1 point for each round won. That way if there is a large field you get more points if you win. If you win when there is a small field you don't get the same number of points as a larger field would. Whatever we do we need to keep it simple as most people involved with this will be on the track and not in the tower.
I really like the trophy idea and feel like $5 off the top of the entry to go towards the trophy cost would be the easiest way to raise enough money to pay for them. Does anyone have any idea what they cost?
A gold card is an easy way to reward the champion, it would just reduce the payout by $75 but that's really not an issue if we are drawing in 25-30 cars per event.
I'm not sure about seperating stock and super stock, I guess we need to discuss this w/ track operators to see how much of an inconvenience it would be. The approach we have taken at Roxboro is that we don't want to be a burden on the track, we are there to help them make money not cost them money and time. There are a lot of good ideas regarding pairing on a ladder, another option would be to draw numbers in the lanes prior to the last time run for your qualifying spot.
I'm not sure if we can weigh cars for heads up runs because very few tracks have permanent scales and we don't have temporary ones to use. That may be something that could happen either down the road if this grew to the point where we could buy scales or if someone donated them. There are a few tech people in the area that we could possibly hire but there again all of this costs money.

I can find out on the trophies. I've got the contact for the place in PA that makes them, as I've done some artwork for the little placards that go on them. Beaver Springs Dragway got sponsors for each class so that they got their names on the Iron Tree trophies as well as the jackets at the end of the year. That might be a 'relatively' easy sponsorship to sell, just to get someone to cover those costs.

Re: Points... these aren't hard to tabulate. Just keep 'em in an Excel spreadsheet, which you can import into the website easily. I did the points for Quaker City Raceway when I worked for them. Wednesday nights were fun times...! It was street-legal bracket racing night. We'd have about 120 cars running, 6 classes. I announced, did the pairings for Top Street, maintained the 100 MPH Club listings, even took pictures of the final rounds from the tower while I was announcing. After the race, took winner's circle pictures, went to the track office, updated the points, 100 MPH Club, and posted race results w/ pics within a half hour of the race being over!

Any way you decide to do the pairings is fine with me. I do prefer *some* kind of a ladder, just so you don't have one lane stacking up because nobody wants to run so-and-so. I guess it doesn't matter to me if you separate S and SS or not... kind of fun to run some people you don't normally get a chance to.

Don't forget the Virginia guys who would likely attend. Fayetteville would be good for us.

Ok guys this Saturday at the Cutting Board Exit 143, Burlington NC. Beside Ramada Inn. The lunch there is between 8 and 15.00 and there is no charge for the room. I hope we have a good turnout to be able to vote on things the way you guys want an Association to be. There are a few things we need to see what the racers want. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Also I know I havent been online much. Well when the track sold that meant I didnt have a job. Keep in mind this was 3 weeks after buying a Super Stock Modified car turnkey and a trailer. I have been very busy and now have things under control. Lets have fun racing this year.
