With the talk of 1000' racing for everyone, and test cases of 1/8 mile, my input would be that Super Classes race to 1/8th mile:

1. The real racing is at the finish, and most spectators could then see that close finish
2. speeds up the races, nullifying the time killing across the line burnouts, and the seconds on the stop, adding to race day length (so maybe LODRS can be done by 6-7 PM!!, or sooner so we can get home in time to go to work on Monday!!)
3. safer
4. on the stop less time, maybe unnoticeable

Sorry for crashing in to Super class territory, but it is on the class site
My 2 cents, and with the economy....waaaay less

At Piedmont Dragway we run 3 heads up classes on various Thursday nights. 1/8 mile we run a 7.49, 6.49 8.99 with no electronics allowed. You cant even run a trans brake in 7.49, its all side by side and Ill get 300 more people on my 6.49 night. WHY>>>THEY RACE SIDE BY SIDE PRO TREE NO DEEP STAGING. Its easy to understand and we get a large mix. If they cut the timers out of the .90 classes and local tracks ran that program people would come out to watch. I know a guy who runs 4.80's in the 1/8 with his Super Gas car. Another runs 5.40 in the 1/8 with his Super Street car. A 10.90 car that will run 8.50. Yea that adds up.

As for delay boxes I say no, but if you make it legal Ill run one obviously.

The .90 classes would be much more fan friendly if they followed the Heritage gasser rules. Get rid of the timers and stops and run on 8.50, 9.50 & 10.50 index. with a qualified field.
Watching the endless parade of throttle stopped 8.90 dragsters to 10.90 door cars is boring.
So much so that I sold my S/G car and started construction on a "paper" Shelby stocker.
(May be my biggest finacial mistake of the year)

Just follow the logical idea by eliminating the .90 classes and move them into Top Sportsman and Top Dragster and dial them. No one has to build a new car, everyone can still race and the fan appeal is back. The stops and timers are what the fans hate.
