The Boyles, Warren and Boertman crowd win hands down over today's hot dogs. Those guys had true panache. There was a boatload of unique character in their cars and them.
Nothing against the Biondo, Fletcher, or Richardsons, but the excitement just isn't there. As odd as it might sound, it's boring watching them win. And so many of those cars today are such yawners. Was it 1976 at Bowling Green when Bagwell ran Jack Mullins in a final? THAT.....was SS racing at its best. Richardson versus Fletcher? Who cares. Boertman versus Boyles? You'll be on the edge of your seat. |

Boertman versus Behemoth 3 times in final of one points meet in Div 3. Best 2 of 3 Boertman. NO ONE LEFT THAT RACE.
It was the time and the level of driving . everyone was foot braking. They were all class racers....from day one. Dick Butler 3529 |

Mike Boyles won with A 4 speed and Pro Handicap Tree, You didn't see three bulbs in those days! If you ever tried it ITS TUFF. Bobby Warren was also in that group and is still DARN good. Very difficult to compare to today. Bertozzi, Fletch, Biondo are as good as they come current day. My opinion with almost 40 years of losing to all of them a number of times!!!

Some of them probably smoked cigarettes, drank booze and chased women too. |
