Check with a local GM dealer. they sell transmissions with one hell of a warranty, if not than Jegs or Summitt has them for sale fairly reasonable

Hey Brian, if find a tranny builder in your area see how much they would charge to convert you 4l60E to a 4L65E even if you are not towing. I have a 05 with 5.3 with the 60E (195K miles) and it is starting to slip 3 to 4, hope this helps.

Will look into the L65 upgrade. I tow with this truck often. Will call a dealer but I'm sure they would want to do the install to get the warranty.

Dealer will charge you 5 to 7K to put another 4l60E in FYI. Company worked for 2 years ago had fleet of 1500 Silverado's we had a tranny go out in one, they quoted us 6K to replace it with one in their stock.

You can purchase the transmission over the counter and have anyone install it for you. The warranty is for the part. As long as you follow all the installation instructions, such as flushing the cooler and lines you are good to go. And yes, dealers do charge more to install a transmission than do independent shops.
