Status of carbon fiber parts in comp class
Is there a NHRA rules that restrict the use of carbon fiber parts in competition altered class ?
See those parts as example from this site: https://www.awacomposites.com/products

Re: Status of carbon fiber parts in comp class
I don't believe so, Charlie.. you just might have to be sure you don't have problems with the front over hang rules on some full body cars.. guys with 32 Bantam and 23 T cars have been changing to carbon fiber for a while now.. certainly lighter..
As far as those engine parts, you would have to check to see if NHRA has approved them.. |

Re: Status of carbon fiber parts in comp class
I should have re-read my rulebook before asking that question...
Here are some portion of my communication via e-mail with Pat Cvengros, Pacific Division Technical Director: -Per the 2024 NHRA rulebook page XIX fourth paragraph it reads in part, On the other hand, as to performance equipment, it is the general rule that unless optional performance equipment or performance-related modification is specifically permitted by this Rulebook, it is prohibited. With that said, the items mentioned (re: internal parts like: piston, rod, rocker) need to be steel or aluminum.
