Agreed, it sucks at night to take photos of. FWIW, I have the free adobe app and it works really good scanning docs and letting you edit. Decent controls to capture the true color of stuff without washing out the text. Never tried to do it at night outside though. Works really good for indoor daytime light. I have had scans accepted for financial transactions and govt related signed docs as well.
