Default Question for Powerglide Wizards

What can cause the stator support in a PG to spin? Is there an extreme load there when on the trans brake? I do see some info from Sonnax Performance on how to prevent it. Also, the Sonnax 28154S-125--what input is that designed for?

Typically ,a sudden shock load against the stator tube coming out of the burnout with the tires drying up is the culprit.
The stock tube is only pressed into the pump casting with splines ....Good builders also drill and tap the casting for a set screw ,which adds a little extra protection, along with replacing the OEM tube with a stronger chrome moly one.
New aftermarket pumps utilize a bolt in design that is relatively unbreakable , but there is always someone who can break anything
The Sonnax tube you referenced is for Very High HP applications and allows the use of a larger 1 1/8" input shaft

On the subject of Powerglides--I have been using a stock-case glide in my car. Anyone have comments about the aftermarket cases that are available, problems that might have been encountered? Thanks--

More problems with stock cases , especially when running a valve body with line pressure over 200 psi. .....Sooner or later it will push the side of the case out at the adjuster bolt.
If you're buying a new case ,I have seen issues with many of them , although mostly minor . mostly bolt holes not tapped all the way through , pump bores not properly champhered . ....... Reid / Dedenbear is the exception, never had any problems with them.
