Stock eliminator questions
Before we decide which road we want to go down, with our Challenger I have a couple questions.
It is currently a 440 six pack car running in B or C stock. We are thinking about building a HEMI. Can you run aluminum heads on a HEMI in Stock Eliminator? If so which ones? I don't see where NHRA says you can. Can you run a aftermarket crankshaft in a HEMI? If so which one. Again I don't see where NHRA has one listed. Any help on this is greatly appreciated! |

2531110-M2 is the only accepted 426 Hemi aluminum replacement head. That is a Chrysler #, the newer Edelbrock forgings are better than the older ones. They have been out for about 7-8 years now. It's a pretty good head out of the box flow wise. You'll lose a few HP over the iron heads, but it gets some free weight off the nose of the car.
Interestingly enough, Dwight's site is showing that in Stock, the 426 Aluminum head combo is rated lower (434 vs. 449) than the steel head combo. I know in S/S, the aluminum head carried a penalty when they initially approved them. I didn't realize that they had been accepted for Stock also. As far as the crank, any "steel" crank is allowed, factory or aftermarket 4340. No billet, Top Fuel, or other misc stuff like that of course. My personal opinion, since the car is already set up for it, is to leave the 440-6. You have to carry a few hundred extra lbs. in B with the Hemi, a little less with the Aluminum head...for now. |

Get the car sorted out with the six pack then go hemi racing. The six pack will go in the nine's at over 130 with a little work

Lightening of crankshaft other than normal balance job prohibited I also suggest that you get and read the NHRA rulebook and then you can make an informed decision on building a LEGAL NHRA Stock Eliminator engine or not
