If NMCA wants their new S/SS combo to prosper, make it with no heads up runs. NMCA should also look at random pairing until the field gets down to 8 cars.
I disagree Midwest class racers is one of the most successful independent groups and last I knew they still have heads up races. In my opinion once you take away heads up it is just a bracket class with lots of letters on the windows. Might as well just go run the local sportsman class save a lot of headaches.

Just some observations here:

* I would be curious to know the real numbers on how many people will not attend a combo race knowing that there is a chance of a heads up race during eliminations. Especially the heavily populated upper and middle letter classes.

* If the IHRA cars are included ( which they should be), then what happens when the racer has an IHRA combo that has an equivalent NHRA class ? Use the NHRA index or the IHRA index ?

* Maybe the NMCA could have at one of their events an additional special race for the Stk/SS racers...

....a C.I.C. race

Stock finalist vs. SS finalist like Michael Beard had at the Class Nationals

I don't think there's a combo program any more healthy than the one run at Bowling Green. There's no moratorium on heads up races there. If there are no heads up races, it's just a Pro/Super Pro all run bracket race with more rules.

I run those at Bowling Green every chance I get without qualms. I just don't want to do the same at the NMCA races which is why I will likely run the NMC class...that was my intention long before this discussion ever came up. Either way all will have a good time at the events should they choose to participate.
