I Think what Mickey is asking is:
Why did NHRA take .3 off the indexes in 2010? |

You forgot the other part of the puzzle ; increasing the automatic hp. trigger to 1.20 under. This gave the same cars ( read 2008 and up cars ) a .500 of a second cushion.

Larry, The 2010 SRAC committee was given a Stock /SS proposal from Bruce B. He, Travis and a couple others had worked very hard to revamp AHFS. Along with the decrease of the indexes, it included the automatic hit at 1.0 sec under. Not all, but a few of the SRAC committee members lobbied for the 1.20 to protect the "older" soft Super Stock combos. They went as far as having some of the racers call, whine, and cry to their Division Representatives to plead their case. Obviously they were once again self serving and very short sited. It's been all down hill since then. The funny thing is most of the persons involved were Super Stock Racers. And they got their 1.20 auto hit passed. I wonder how they'd be feeling if all these "new cars" were SS only! The end result is the Racers got what they asked for! And it really was a slap in Bruce's face. And now we bitch? As Paul Harvey would say, " Now you know the rest of the story."
