It takes a Splayed Valve V-6 to be competitive in SS/X classes. I haven't seen an in-line 6 run like the SV- V-6.
To build a SS A/X car it has to be very lite weight in the 2200 lb area. Anything bigger than a 280-285 cu in V-6 will make all the cars too heavy to compete. Most good are 280 and under. I have 2 - 278 cu in and a 266 cu in engine. It takes making 2.25 + Hp per cu in. This is a test pass in SS/DS which is like a SS/X class except there are some body rules and a 750 carb rule. Right now I'm out due to family health issues. If you want some good parts to start with let me know. I might consider selling the car.
