The economy around here has been tough on a lot of people for quite some time now, that is why my stuff has been parked for 3 years.

IMO This is where IHRA needs to come in and offer some professional help.
Start asking questions of how to increase traffic at their Tracks. If the track is so unique, how can it be expanded? A clean track is rare and if that clean needs some marketing. Best practices need to be researched and implemented. Model Mike Beards S/SS Class Nationals idea that seems to work. Sure would peak the interest of racer to build more Sportsman Cars than just Brackets. Bring back Track Records. Bragging rights are actually good... D |

Some guys just won't run IHRA. If I have time, and there is one close, I have run with them. Never a bad experience. Officials are great. Track prep is great. Just nobody to race. Six to ten SS cars is just nuts. Same cars I see at NHRA races.
Usually only hitters show up. LOL

It was nice enough to probably get (if it were NHRA) to get a points race if it were big enough to hold all the cars. One shop I tune for does work for the ownner of a Div 4 track that converted from IHRA, and had NHRA LODRS races. He said he made more off his one LODRS race than any precious year with IHRA. Said his weekly shows drew more cars. Been to Crandell a couple of times. Kinda wondered how it was going to make any money. Was a very nice little track.

Somebody told me that they cleaned Yello Belly up quite a bit and that it is a safe place to go now. I haven't been there in many years, but I did hear that.

Yes Yello Belly has been cleaned up. Been going over there for the last 3 years to a nostolgia race with no problems. A lot of that crowd now goes th Kennendale on Sunday night but i hear this may be the last year for them. Denton was almost sold to the railroad when the guy who owns it now saved the place but who knows how long that could be for.

Like I said before, I haven't been there in decades. I have seen things that went on at that place that does not do to put into print. Lets just say that it was a dangerous place to go and that is why its been so long since my last visit. I'm glad to know that the place has been cleaned up and hopefully,,,,,,,,cleaned out!

Anyone hear anything new on Crandall?
Website still shows active, and states that Ken is trying to figure out the 2014 schedule... Are the Fab 5 races still on at this point? I did trade emails with Frank K, but did not learn anything new. Sounds like everyone is was just waiting for info, as of a few days ago. Ken |
