Gary has been protecting that combination all year, save Indy where he ran 1.17 under. Me thinks his car has a lot more than that. So why should he put down a 1.20 hit now? Bo Butner is a different story.

Are you sure it's six, Bruce? Mr. Gary has triggered it with an 1.17 under run. That means a multiplication of the h.p. rating x 2.25%.

I believe you are correct. Looks like a whopping 13 HP at the end of the year. Wonder why he keeps dialing the car? Seems like for a lousy 6 more horsepower it would be fun to win a few class trophies.

Twas too late at night for me math. After checking the guides, the adjustment will be an under-whelming 9 horsepower. Hardly worth mentioning. Bruce Bachelder boasted at PRI two years ago that nhra had put some real teeth into the ahfs and that it would quickly correct the new car factors. I won't repeat what I told him then but his little toothless ahfs is not equipped to handle the gross miscalculations on the new cars.

Has Mattingly triggered automatic hp at 120 under or just a review? I was told that you have to run 140 under at a national open or sports nats to trigger an automatic hp increase. The 120 rule is only for national events and points races? Any input appreciated.

Now, any run at any race of -1.200 under or more gets HP, on a stepped scale (the further under that you run, the more you get). -1.25 gets more, -1.30 under more yet, and so on. Runs of -1.000 to -1.199 at a National or Divisional event will flag a combo for a potential review. If done twice in the same half of the season, it WILL be reviewed.

NHRA says these races are classified as National Events. They aren't exactly like them, but that was what I was told at Belle Rose.
