I think we should get you a new sticker, that says... We don't cry we just throw money away cause we can, cause we can't out run you, but we can out spend you! Get out run by .004 and protest for a wally and 200 bucks. Some class you Cajuns have. Maybe you should go race where everyone are ASSHOLES like you, cause you sure don't deserve to CLASS RACE, cause you aint got none. Last part was in your language so you could understand.
CRYBABY ASSHOLE!!!!!! Have a Nice Day![:-veryangry-:] Bob Bullock |

I thought out spending was the standard in NHRA .... most money wins.
If you can spend the money to make it the fastest ...get a machinest that can do the math ... light is light. I dont own or know any dogs in this fight but.... If car is not legal. It changes everything....would suck to be knocked out 1st round by a car deemed illegal 6 rounds later. Seems everybody is ready to bitch at tech for overlooking stuff but when they catch a cheater they get bitched at. Well I say ...good job tech. Who agrees with this!!! That is a pretty good post above. However, everyone that races has been beaten by alot of illegal cars. 12 grams is 12 grams too light. I don't agree that a rod and piston on any combo can be pulled, inspected, and reassembled in 5 hrs. Some can do it, some can't. I've waited 2 hours just to get heads verified after a record run. What about a broken bolt? Installing a heli coil and other problems that can arise from any mechanical surgery? Gotta be some allowable time between the start of eliminations. I'm glad to see protests and glad to see illegal stuff tossed. On the other hand, I hate to see someone buy an engine and get a surprise on a supposedly legal piece. If nothing more than the 12 grams were found I would say that the car owner knew nothing about the problem. However, we now have a spec to measure by and that is good. I don't personally know the guys that put up the money for the protest but I would go easy on the Louisiana crowd. Some of the best guys around are from that area of the country.

I am ok with the protest procedure in general, I am wondering if a clarification from NHRA is in order on the timeliness. If this is the standard, I could see the guys improving their odds by going after some of the killer repeat winners with a last minute protest. As much as this could improve the chances for rest of us I believe there should be some standard for the time allowed to get the teardown done and make first round. Maybe this is actually a positive. I mean, anytime we have any delay, NHRA knocks out the class run offs to save time, I bet it is in their playbook. Maybe the tech official that squeezed in the 5 hour piston pull should be put in charge of the sportsman class schedule! At least we would get to run it then!

12 grams, anyone actually realize how much 12 grams is, that could be the difference in ring packages from one Mfg. to another, difference from OEM rod bolts to ARP. I have seen digital scales be 5 grams difference , but just like a cam thats .001 to much lift with THERE gauges, out is out.
The real thing that gets me is the time line, does this mean a precedence has been set and now it's going to be OK to protest whoever you run first round so you can buy a bye run ?

Decades ago, the protest procedure at some tracks was if you were protested, you "ran under protest".
This meant that during eliminations, you could be eliminated, but you could not eliminate anyone else. If you (the one under protest) beat someone, they returned for the next round. If you were beaten, you were out. After all racing was completed, the tear-down took place. |

I agree that it is a good thing nhra stuck to the weights and tossed the guy, I wouldnt have a problem with that if it had been done on saturday. Now unless they make a rule, or enforce the one they have...
"Contestants protest must be filed with the proper officals the day prior to eliminations (class and/or eliminations) of that category.....NHRA reserves the right to reject any protest filed that it determins, in its sole and absolute dicretion, is frivolos or intended to harass another competitor or to other wise gain some unfair advantage." It is a tough situation though because whos to stop the nex guy from doin it to pick up points. Rule book states "Remove oil pan, rod, piston, and inspect crank.....$500", but i guess it could have been more in this instance. |

Bud,
Let me add a little more info about Grams. 12 grams is the weight of 12 one dollar bills. I've never weighed 100 dollar bills(Franklins), but I would bet they weigh the same as 1 dollar bills. 12 Grams of piston & rod weight could be a samll amount or large amount. I guess it depends on what currency you base it on. Adger Smith

Mr. Pendarvis,
Why did you have reason to believe the car that outran you was illegal? Was it really only a matter of anyone that outruns you in class, you will protest? |
