DeuceCoupe, from Nitro Joe's 2022 year end stats
SS/CA 10.05 9.644 -0.406 426 Mark Norris '64 Belvedere 1964 Plym 426 425 460 CE 1 D42 NOBLE
Mark Norris is a friend of mine and I know a little about the history of this car. Mark runs the car pretty much in bracket mode. Mark has a Drag Pack that is capable of 1.00 under.
It is a Jim Hale car built by "Joe Smith"
It has been campaigned as a single 4 bbl Hemi
Jim Hale built his current SS/DA hemi car based off the cage and chassis of Marks SS/CA

Hoping some of you long time east coast racers may be able to help with any information on ownership history...

I purchased Jack Wersts 65 5&50 65 Plymouth from Ken Montgomery in 2006. As some know Ken raced it in 1976 then had an accident with Dean Nicopolis in the turn off area at Indy. Nicopolis fixed his front end damage and continued racing that weekend, but Ken's car got hit in the driver rear quarter and flipped over. Ken never repaired it.

In talking with Ken he said he got it in the Scranton,PA area but couldn't remember who he got it from. Anybody remember who might have raced it before Ken did in 1976?

I also talked to Fred Ristagno(Hemi Fred), and he remembered a guy named Van Palmer who might have owned it around 1969. Van also raced a max wedge car called the Beach Comber if that rings any bells.

Here's some photos from back in the day, how it looked when I got it, and the resto up to this point.

You can email or call me at 515-227-1064. Thanks,Alex

I heard that story before but didn't realize this white Belvedere was not the original Triple NIckle car of Kenny's.

M68

P.S. Speaking of Triple Nickle, what relevance does that name have? I've been wondering for DECADES. Anyone know?

"Ruined it if you ask me. Why not get a plain Jane six-cylinder or 318 model if you're going to drastically modify it to this extent? I know, I know, they were 'just' race cars built and sold to be raced but this is RIDICULOUS."

Nobody had ANY idea.....

Over the years I have always wondered what happened to many of these original cars as they appeared in 1965. Shirley Shahan's 65' Belvedere was one that always stood out. Going to a former racers home to purchase some parts there was some conversation about old race cars. One of the cars that he talked about was the Drag On Lady Plymouth and how he watched it turned over to a local junk yard about 5 miles from my home to be scrapped after a crash.

I've been searching for material and speaking with others to confirm this story. I have had a brief conversation with Shirley and one pit crew member about the car. My information trail ends prior to 1976 and shows what I believe to be this car and it's end. Does anyone here have any information about this car and where it may be.
