Thanks, CB, I did not know that.
So, they really don't need any new cars out there?

How about when they have the Stockers factored at the Super /Stock number?

Also dropping the indexes .3 did nothing to help this situation.

Is it true you must at least run the index to get the horsepower lowered?

I believe they made that rule in the interest of saving time.

Right now, cars are shutting off at 1000ft to get horsepower off.

If you didn't need to at least run the index to get horsepower off, then cars would be lifting after the 60 ft clocks!

No reduction here,..... then giving back some to the 273 record holder?

I stand corrected on the 273 auto combo.
It was the stick shift given back HP.
The NHRA release didn't mention that fact, as it did with the Chevelle.
Paul Wong DID hold the record a few times with that combo though.

The problem with the 1955 Chevy 180 hp is the mistake in the class guide. All factoring was done on the super stock 265. The last time that combo went down the track was Nov of 1971 when Paul Dilcher won the Supernationals. Forty one years later the Hurley car made some runs. The question is where did the combo get factored? The answer is it did not. The mistake need to be fixed. The combo will nerver go to 165 as a first step Fix the mistake and move on from there..

For what it is worth,I would love to see this combo be built to run index and beat a bunch of Drag Packs and Cobra Jets.I had a pretty good year against those cars myself.

It sounds like it is possible to get it to run the index, just not cheaply.

A lot of things have changed since 1971.Lightweight wheels and radials for one.

Does this car have them?
