I used to take two aspirins and a sandwich about an hour before first round was scheduled to be called at the Nats, it takes the edge off the nervousness. If I make it to 2nd round, I'm usually pretty relaxed. When I'm lucky enough to make it to the 4th or 5th round that nervous feeling is back big time.

I really can't think of a medical reason for the aspirin to help with nervousness. Maybe it's the sandwich. Perhaps you should snack between rounds. Could be a sugar thing. Also I think everyone gets nervous to some degree while racing. Jim

Bo, It"s great to hear from you, Toprol is used to lower blood pressure and it's non norcotic, so I don't know why else they would take it. Those guys gotta be careful because of drug testing in nascar and pro golf...

I can't find the link right now, but a Uof FL study in conjunction with U of Michigan Center for Human Behavior showed that a regimen of foods high in antioxidents and phytonutrients improves "alertness" by over 30%. "Alertness" allows better concentration, according to the study.

Two large mugs of coffee, after a night of martinis and bs. And of course Stock is out at 8 AM. Then a nap after first round. Problem Solved

Just old wives tale...BUT...looking at the package insert which give full desription of ibuprofen (motrin and advil) there is a less than 3% chance of this drug to cause dizziness, headache or nervousness. One of the complaint was by a 19 year old male who took 8000 mg ( that's 10 tablets of prescription only strenght 800 mg. or 40 tablets of the over the counter strenght of 200 mg ) in a 24 hour period... Lets put it this way in 18+ years owning a pharmacy the major complaint was stomach ache caused by people taking ibuprofen without food. Always take ibuprofen with food. And avoid drinking alcohol when taking this drug. If anyone read the package insert of ANY drug and look at the interactions, no one will ever take drugs, including asprin...so back to the question there is no correlation between ibuprofen and reaction time...i hope this answer your question..Luke SS 311
