The word "can't", as in "can not", utilizes an apostrophe.

John Dee & I ran a 67 Fairlane 4 door wagon, 427/410 single 4 barrel 4 speed car in the early 70s without the hood scoop in E/S in Div 2. To the best of my knowledge it was a SS option on the 2-4 motor only but I could be wrong. No one else ever ran a scoop on one back then either ,strictly the 427/425 hardtop SS cars. Richard Charboneau {sp} never ran one either. That was before special letters from Mfgrs existed though

Terry,

This thread has my interest. I am building a 68 Cyclone with a 428. I presently have a scoop I ran on the street, which is a stang scoop, because the Merc version is a little harder to find. The Merc is wider and taller.

My question is do I have to run the Merc style? Do I have to run the ram air with it? Can the scoop be a replica(ie: easier to find and easier on the wallet)? Can the hood be a non ram air hood made to fit and operate as the ram?

I appreciate all comments on this.

Steve

Its been years since I have kept up but I believe you can run a replica as long as its correct and steel as OEM. You will need the air filter/carb base with the rubber seal and air flap also. If you can duplicate the OEM hole in the hood you can use your hood. Check with an NHRA tech person if you plan on running NHRA. Ive been out of the loop for about 10 years.

Haha, that would be nice! I would have a personal tutor to worry about all that stuff for me while I play football.
But seriously, this isn't an essay we're writing here. I doubt even my English professor would care about perfect grammar on an internet forum.
