Nice one Kip - LOL!

Must say that if there is a 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile race the same weekend, I'm always going long.

I never raced there,or even knew it existed but about 10 miles north of Englishtown there was a roundy round track,Old Bridge Speedway that ran drag shows on the straight away.I thin it was even shorter than 1/16 mile. The straight away was banked no less. The cars, since they were mostly stick cars had to be held by someone at the rear quarter to keep it from rolling. The track owner rigged up a traffic light for a tree. That had to be a sight to see.One of the mags did a pictorial on it last year. The track closed in 1973 I think. All the pics in the article were taken at night.

Some people actually like being in their cars with their foot through the floors. Why cut that joy in half by racing eighth mile races? IMO, if you only want to race your car half of what is only a quarter of a mile to begin with, then maybe you don't like racing that much after all.

Besides, if you race the full quarter mile, you get two eighth mile times! One may be slower than the other, but it's a win-win!!!

WHOOOO KNOOOWWWSSS???

My enjoyment is: hit the tree, pull a wheelie, shift gears, drive the stripe, and in general the competition and the people at the track. Most everything else is immaterial. 1/8, 1/4, 1000'... doesn't matter to me.

I want to race to 1000' like my hero John Force! If we all switched to 1000', then everything would be OK by me.

Great compromise Chris. I'd be OK with that.

If I show up at an !/8 mile track I pretty much assume we'll be racing an 1/8 mile. Therefore, when I show up at a 1/4 mile track i sure the hell hope we're racing the 1,320..........Oh no ! .....I can't stop, there's a bump in the track,.. ..race gas is too expensive,....I have a kink in my neck and it's hard for me to look back,....I get lite headed from my helmet,,jacket, and pants,....my engine only has to go to 7,200 two times instead of three,.......I my personal favorite....I cut bad lights on an 1/8 mile track!

As far as I'm concerned there are two types of tracks 1/4 &1/8 and I like them both.
