Your right on--they weigh alittle over 4,000 lbs with 150 pd. driver--the C6 corvette 6 speed runs 12.50s @ 116 mph--same motor but 600 pds. lighter--

We took a bone stock 2010 Camaro with an automatic transmission to E-Town last month and ran a 13.2 at 108. With just a tune, we went 12.89 at 109.5. With a set of American Racing Headers (1 3/4") and a larger camshaft, we went 12.21 at 114 mph in 3500-feet.

On another note, we put a P-1SC-1 Procharger on a Pontiac G8 (almost identical to the Camaro) and went 11.42 at 124 mph with a 2.08 60-foot and stock converter. Both cars are still averaging 30 mph on the highway, idle quietly at 550 rpm, and are on 93 octane. We now have a Pontiac G8 with an LS7 (Z06 engine) and a D-1SC Procharger that makes 880 horsepower.

The independent rear has consistently been launched in recent testing with the new Camaro and a Vigilante 3200-stall torque converter with sub 1.55 60-foot times completely stock. The 6L60E automatic transmission is absolutely bulletproof.

With both the Camaro and G8 you can leave from idle or 1000 to 1500 rpm. The converter we use is a Vigilante 2800-stall triple-disc lock-up from Precision Industries. The problem isn't getting the car to hook, the problem is the 1/2 shift that spins with just about every tire we put under it. We put the car in manual mode and shift at 5500 instead of 6400 which tends to take care of the problem.

The Camaro is going to be a very quick car with a few modifications. One of the biggest advantages with the 6L80E cars is the L99 engine with variable valve timing technology. The problem we are now having with out 850 horsepower G8 is that no one will let us run 10's at over 140 without a roll bar, jacket, driveshaft loop, etc... Although we will be running it next week.

I haven't tried leaving from idle yet, I've been foot-braking it to 2000.

Every track will let you do it once, lol. Some twice if you tell them the first time was an accident.
