Yea, I remember him. A yellow '66 Nova called the "Liberator" that had the rear fenderwells cut out for the tires.. He was a big boy who footbraked this car and usually was ALWAYS in the money. Sam Cunningham was a guy from the Port Arthur area and race a 61 or 62 vette that had a straight axle that actually moved back when he launched. It was wild and legal in those days, but plenty fast. He was known for coming up with different ideas. Wayne RIP Speedy, the nova was built by Joey Richards a long time racer from the old Houston track in League City.
