I returned home from Indy a short while ago, and I have some ideas that may bring back some of the glory of past Indys. We all know that next year Indy will return to its traditional 6 day (Weds.- Mon.) schedule. Taking that into consideration, here are my thoughts on how to make Indy better.
1. A return to no AHFS as it has been for the last several years, until this year. 2. Increase the Stock and Super Stock quotas from 150 to at least 170; preferably 180. 3. Run the Jeg's Allstars at a different race such as the Jeg's Sportsnationals. If the NHRA implemented all 3 of these suggestions; I believe the Indy experience would be improved for both racers and fans. I will be posting my pictures from Indy no later than tomorrow.

Return to the old schedule of running Stock class one day and teardown next day. Same for Super Stock. They alternated in the past and afforded for more time to teardown before eliminations.
That was part of the intrigue who would be called to the barn and the outcome. They certainly don't seem to be afraid to call cars into the barn as evidenced this year. Some were called in after 1st round and some after 2nd round. I would prefer this to be done before eliminations start if possible for the more intensive looks. Keep the spot checks throughout for the easier stuff like carbs/TB, safety items, electronics..... |

Class winners race, like stock and superstock use to be. All class winners in stock / superstock race off using their class index for handicap. No breakout, no AHFS, race to the finish line, and you better cut a good light.

1... NEVER return to the "no AHFS".. let it work when people want to go fast (Indy)
2... Reread suggestion #1

Absolutely !!! Class racers like to watch the other class racers. With this years schedule, there was no way an SS racer got to see many Stockers running class or vice versa. It would have been great to have the day off, have a few beers and watch the other class race all day!!!!
